Collecting ideas for painting

Whenever you see something that inspires you, like a colour, a shape, a scene, an emotion , a dream, document it in some way. Photograph it, draw it, memorize it. However you do it will be right for you. Collect and enter into your visual diary.

  1. I do this all the time to keep the ideas floating!

  2. Hi Kate, that's great. Yes it does keep the ideas flowing and I find that when I'm in bed, almost asleep at night is when the ideas just emerge. If I don't write them down or draw the shapes and pictures right there and then, it will disappear and be gone forever. I always have a diary and pencil of pen on my side cupboard just in case.
PS your beautiful retreat is still in the back of my mind for a workshop weekend or something but the time is not right.
